His girlfriend in an effort to help him (yeah right) tricks him into anger management therapy. The therapy group consisted of... excessively angry men (revolving around sports and military careers)...Adam Sandler (weak willed and neurotic)....and a camp gay man. There are some women in this film; lesbian porn stars (a minority I never tire of seeing onscreen) and Sandler's girlfriend. This girlfriend not only orchestrated the anger management (a ridiculous plot twist) but did it to force her boyfriend into a public display of affection and a marriage proposal! Sandler manages to show the kind of restraint that made his performance in "Punch Drunk Love" so good, but the character never really develops. Jack Nicholson ( the man with the best eyebrows in the business) owns the screen, never letting a moment to overact pass him by. This film obviously worked on paper but unfortunately just boils down to stereotypes and very weak knob jokes. |
